You can never tell if Reggie Noble, aka Redman, is crazy or just playing a role. Oozing personality and quirk, the Newark, New Jersey, MC could deliver his rhymes in a stand-up routine and his nonchalant vibe, his lyrics are far from sloppy. One explanation for his undervalued staus: His peculiarities particularly on his off-the-wall 1994 sophomore effort, Dare Iz A Darkside often overshadowed his knack for shrewd one-liners, sly metaphors, and brilliant storytelling. Still, Hip hop heads familiar with both tricks and his lyrical flair have come to love both sides. When Redman teamed up with Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man in the late 90s the dynamic duo combined their New York wit and middle finger to the world mentality on their classics 1999 collaborative project, Blackout! Naming Muddy Waters as his favorite Redman album, Method Man cited his partner's focus and lyrical progression as traits any fan would hope for in their favorite MC. With his playful personality and wiliness, Redman always seems like he's enjoying what he's doing as much as we enjoy listening and laughing with him.
